Excellent. September 1st draws nearer, exams and homeworks of DOOM planned out already. What ever shall I wear on the first day of school?

Getting out of the school officially for the school break never felt better. I didn't realize how much junk (read: homework from eons ago, earlier this year) I had piling up in my closet. Suppose I can perhaps wait a few years on some of these, then owl post them to some of my students later as wedding gifts. I wonder how many would cringe at the sight of all the red ink.
I'm so considerate.
My parents keep a surprisingly close track of when the year ends. I probably only told them once half a year ago and they remembered, because they didn't waste any time calling up and reminding me that their anniversary party is next Saturday. They go all out every other year and have a large dinner party. Cute, sorta. Not cute when they demand a date

Before starting the sixth year class on history of magic in Ancient Rome, I asked the class to write down a brief description on what they knew about the Romans. Calling on unsuspected victims is usually amusing and/or strange. Today, I received the reply: "History calls people Romans because they never stayed in one place for very long."
Boot, that couldn't possibly be your doing!

I might have to start a Original Excuses pile in my office.
( Graphic under cut ) I ought to give her points for not having it written in her own handwritten.

[ warded to r.l.a. ] Just when I thought children couldn't get more brutal than I've seen them become, I find that one of my students has left being a rather hefty book. A slam book, to be exact. And unless they purposely planted this on someone's desk to get them in trouble, I think I know who it might belong to.
Was never exactly fond of rumors getting passed around, even if it was as harmless as "John eats glue". I'm hoping no one else has seen anything in these books, or that anything is going to be passed around once the owner realizes they don't have this in their position anymore.
For the record, that was purely for the purpose of an example. I never ate glue, nor did people think so!
[ warded private ] Note to self: Possible after-class meeting with Olivia March (should get Ms. Lewis and Ms. Dunbar involved?)

Huh. Now if only Marlene Hooch had shown that much enthusiasm in my classes. To learn, specifically.

Sweet Merlin, where did you learn to cook? This cake? It's superb. Is it one of those "I'd tell you what's in it but then I'd have to kill you" recipes?

A one-page essay shouldn't be so difficult to write up. And using the excuse "but it was Christmas" wouldn't make up for it, seeing that it wasn't Christmas every day. And if it was the simplest of essays that wouldn't have taken more than an hour to complete, I think I have every right to issue a punishment for not doing it.
If the entire class could do it, why should I be letting two students who didn't off the hook?
Children. Gotta love their logic. Except not really.
